I made some major progress with the kaleidoscope quilt. Last week I was really stuck with it, I was not happy with the few blocks I made. They looked too washed out and without character. But since I already cut all the fabrics (with templates! ahh...), I was very reluctant to choose new fabrics, spend time cutting them, and not use the fabrics I cut already.
Eventually I decided to cut my losses (what a pun...) add some more dark fabrics, and now I'm much happier with the result.
I think it's true also for life in general - you invest so much in your choices, it's very hard to change, even if your initial choice was not good.
Do you also get stuck sometimes with your initial choice (of fabrics, color, design) and find it hard to change?
I was also busy with another great yummy project - a birthday cake for my lovely grandson
What do you think?

Cool quilt! Good luck with it :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your color choices! I still have a kalaidescope quilt in my WIP list!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've always wanted to try a kaleidoscope, but for whatever reason, it has yet to happen.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, yes, I definitely get what you mean about living with our own crafty decisions. I'm always second-guessing myself - fabric choices, to sash or not, etc. But your kaleidoscopes are looking great! The reds and dark blues complement the other fabrics perfectly! You're definitely a cool grandmother to make a 3-d Thomas cake!
ReplyDeletewonderful blocks--love that orange color you are including.
